Chicksands, Dodge Bailey and lots of Cubs and a Beaver!
Hello Joystickers
A brilliant day out yesterday. Two very special events just a few miles apart. 12 of us arrived at Chicksands, the military intelligence museum nr. Shefford, a longish drive from WW. After security we met up with Bill, whose the contact that John Nichols put us onto, and we were given a tour by him and his co-guide into the world of gathering intelligence from WW1 through to the present day! Ukraine did get a mention! So much to see and take in, this pic of the Dams raid was a small part of a room full of stereo PR pictures and aircraft cameras.
We couldn’t hang on to get the most out of that visit as we had to head up the road to the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden for a quick cuppa & sandwich before a masterful tour of their aircraft from “the best of the best” guide Dodge Bailey. Dodge has stepped down from being the “big cheese” but uses his considerable knowledge to test fly anything that needs sorting.
A group pic of course….
During our stay this fine DH Beaver arrived, amazingly just started to do a Pedal Plane one, a good omen.
Talking Beavers, shed loads (if only they’d stay in them!) of Cub scouts are coming our way this Summer and volunteers needed for these evenings.
