Jazz at THE Club
Hello JOYSTICKERS! www.joystickclub.co.uk
Pete Allen and his "Reeds and Rhythm" band did us proud last night. Jazz music that must have been heard at the airfield many times in years past.
Gavin and his staff produced a great setting in the Bar with candelabra and colourful place settings, of course our spotlights came into there own!
The food was tasty with chicken curry and a really delicious apple pie with cream or custard, coffee followed all provided by Maria, Tina and Emma working flat out. They had already set the room up but had time at the end to enjoy the music.
Many thanks to all that helped, including those that stayed behind to break down the tables and the surviving chairs!
Today Alan Hoskins and I relocated the tables/ chairs to the Altwood scout premises.
Counting up later we made a small profit and might do the same next Feb!
This Wed. evening Chris Royle will be introducing Air Commodore rtd. Dave Best to talk of Air Power in the Afghan campaign where he served as NATO's Air Ops director.
Thursday we will be refurbishing and loading up the caravan for our own air ops. at Hughenden Manor for half term youngsters , 15th -19th.
Our next JSC NIGHT is Monday 22nd when Jim Davies from the British Airways Heritage Centre inside their BA HQ at Waterside , will be presenting the airlines history in his own very stylish way.
Bring your friends and any ex staff along for a really good talk, might be a Trident mentioned but Jim is ex BOAC so a little bantering might be the order of the day!
Airline videos will be shown from 1830 to accompany " Flying Foods" tasty offerings, not the bar staff!
